One of my biggest frustrations when making music is not being able to capture my idea quickly enough. Don't get me wrong, it's not always about speed, but my goal has always been to remove as many obstacles as possible in my music creation process so I can get to the idea quicker.

 

Speed and efficiency are essential when making music by yourself to keep the momentum going, but especially when working with artists. If you are the producer in the room for an artist's session, then your job is to create the vibes for them and do it as quickly as you can.

Studio One has a feature called Macros, which are shortcuts that allow you to combine multiple actions into one easy-to-use command.

 

For example, let's say you wanted to bounce a piece of MIDI to audio and then set the gain to -12dB. In any normal situation, there would be at least two tasks you would have to perform manually, but when you combine them into a macro, that entire sequence can be achieved with a click of a button.
